Welcome to the ABBAology family!

I'm your instructor, Jake Stringer. I am a husband to Michelle, father of 4 precious kiddos (Harmon, Journey, Jake, and Saylor), bible teacher, author, and former pastor. It is my passion to give people now what I wish I had sooner: interpretive tools for bible understanding that ACTUALLY help things fall into place and bring clarity. 

My painstakingly engineered Bible Hacks course combines the most powerful Bible Hacks, or in other words interpretive tools I've learned in the last 12 years of my theological journey. These are bible hacks scholars have used for years, but aren't typically applied in the evangelical church, which causes much confusion for all of us.

You will find six 30 minute sessions along with accompanying fill in the blank, and non-fill in the blank notes.

If you've always known there was "more," or if the common western evangelical narrative has left you unsatisfied, this is for you. If you've DEconstructed much of the faith you were handed, but still love Jesus and wish to REconstruct something healthy and viable going forward, this is for you.

You won't be able to unsee what I show you. You WILL begin experiencing the fear free, effortless relationship with ABBA that's always been yours. ABBAology is all about shifting you from the judicial to the familial. You will no longer see yourself as a defendant in a courtroom before an angry austere judge, and you will join ABBA where He's always been: in the family room. Enjoy! 



Why is it time to shift from THEOlogy to ABBAology?


Let's start with what the Bible is and is not. The Bible is a multi-vocal, or many voiced library of scrolls; it is not one single univocal, non-contradictory book as so many of us have been told since our youth. Because this library of scrolls contains letters written by different people with different viewpoints, different preexisting biases, different people groups they wished to wipe from the earth, different lenses through which they viewed the divine, who lived during varying historical contexts, we naturally find many different concepts of God within its pages.

We find passages depicting God as violent, angry, genocidal, and difficult to appease. These depictions are problematically bound together alongside ones in which God seems to be the exact opposite (especially once Jesus shows up): non-violent, patient, loving, merciful, and kind. Which is it? Which revelation is authoritative? I can tell you that trying to make all concepts of God found within the Bible jive cohesively will drive you absolutely insane! Trust me, I tried for years! Alas, I have good news; they're not supposed to!

Are you with me so far? I hope so. On the ABBAology journey, we work through the bible we need to in order to shift from judicial/courtroom concepts of God, to experiencing a stress free familial reality with Him. The authoritative biblical revelation is Jesus; if we've seen Him we've seen ABBA, and Jesus introduced a family dynamic! After all, He was telling non-repentant, pre-Cross, unbelieving Jews in the 1st century that God was their Father/Origin! These people didn't even walk the aisle or recite a sinner's prayer! He even had the audacity to begin His prayer with, "OUR Father," as in HIS Father, AND THEIRS! Whoa now Jesus, don't you know our denomination's steps for salvation? :)

I believe Jesus came to reveal to humanity this transformative Truth: we've always been ABBA's kids apart from our merit or religious performance. What changes is our awareness of and capacity to grasp this Truth, not the Truth itself! We are on an ONGOING progressive journey of understanding the divine....Judicial to familial: from THEOlogy to ABBAology. See you inside the course!
